Sales Director – Energy Demand Side

Looking to leverage your real estate or data center experience at a fast growing technology company that is transforming how organizations account for, strategize, and act on their carbon consumption?

Cleartrace seeks an experienced Sales Director with corporate and industrial (C&I) account experience who will help us grow our base of direct customers.  This person will lean on their industry knowledge and experience to navigate through the competing priorities and bureaucracies of these large organizations and find ways to put wins on the board that can be socialized and used as educational resources to expand relationships over time and ultimately help these organizations decarbonize their energy footprints.  This individual will work directly with prospective customers, educate them, secure initial commitments, and then expand those commitments over time.

Our industry is evolving very rapidly, so this role offers unlimited learning opportunities and a priceless chance to bring much needed change to cross-industry carbon accounting plagued by mistrust and fuzzy math.

We are based in Austin, Texas, but the role is open to the right candidate anywhere in the United States.  Candidates of all backgrounds with some energy experience are encouraged to apply. 


  • Five  to eight  years of relevant enterprise sales experience
  • Prior experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Data centers
    • Corporate real estate
    • Distributed energy & infrastructure
    • Industrials & manufacturing
    • Sustainability solution offerings
    • Climate tech SaaS
  • Solid understanding of enterprise buying processes
  • High cognitive horsepower
  • A network of relevant C&I  contacts
  • Ability to travel as needed to secure commitments and engage customers

You’ll Separate Yourself if You Possess 

  • Insatiable curiosity
  • Familiarity with the Challenger Selling strategies or something analogous
  • Quota carrying, SaaS selling experience
  • Experience with modern selling tools: CRM, sales automation, contact data tools
  • Ability to sell with partners and develop partnerships with key players important to top customers and prospects
  • Passion for helping to address climate change

Critical Responsibilities of an Sales Director

  • Closing new accounts and expanding existing customers to build ARR
  • Developing sales opportunities through both indirect and direct efforts including outbound pursuits to generate an appropriate pipeline to meet goals
  • Forecasting accurately at various intervals to help gauge team progress towards goals
  • Team selling with with internal and external stakeholders including stellar cross channel communications
  • Diligence in updating the CRM and managing other critical information flows
  • Conducting meetings and using appropriate tools to get the job done
  • Quickly assessing opportunities, establishing a prospect’s why, and delivering a clear value proposition and firm business case to drive prospect commitments
  • Keeping abreast of market movement/trends, competition, regulation, and general movement within the industry
